Is there a reason why the crease pattern has been cropped compared to the final result? (same question for Emergent Hexagons)

  • · Why was it cropped? To keep the task compact and to highlight the core concept — the essential repeating structure. This applies both here and in the case of Emergent Hexagons.
  • · To meet the task requirements and for the basic assessment, accurately reproducing this core element is sufficient.
  • · If you want to create a stronger entry for the medal competition — expand it! Scale up the texture and showcase it in its full glory. The pattern contains all the necessary information for continuing it. The judges always value when a participant doesn′t settle for the minimum but instead deeply explores and makes impressive use of the pattern′s potential. The approach can vary: some may focus on expanding it, others on the artistic treatment of the central molecules, while some might choose a different path entirely.
